How It Was Made

Each piece is built using coil construction—formed slowly, layer by layer, from the ground up. It mirrors the way I have experienced motherhood and identity: gradual, deliberate, and ever-evolving. The form cannot be rushed. It is a practice in patience and nurture.

Each time two coils come together, they create a place of uncertainty. The sculpture may hold, or it may crack apart. I used to see those moments as something to avoid. This collection taught me to see them differently. The fractures became part of the story, reminding me that what has been broken is often where the deepest beauty is found.

The 22-karat gold gently draws attention to the beauty already present. It serves as a quiet reminder that worth does not begin after we are broken or transformed. We are deserving of wonder long before life asks us to prove our strength.

I spent fourteen years as a costume designer in Hollywood before building a quieter life as a ceramicist in the Pacific Northwest. After becoming a mother, I began sculpting the female form, honoring its flaws and the places that have held pain. Now I create commissioned pieces to honor a woman’s season of becoming.
